electric natural gas
Pool Heater: natural gas versus electric heat pump?

I'm trying to decide which heater should I choose for my pool. I live in eastern Canada, which means that my bathing season lasts about 6 months. We have access to natural gas. From what I've read so far, heaters natural gas are about 40% cheaper to buy than a heat pump, but operating costs are more. Moreover, natural gas heater warms the pool so much faster and is supposedly more durable. What system do you recommend people? If the natural gas heater works faster, is it practical to operate the system only a few hours before use (thus saving on operating costs)? From what I understand, most pool owners leave their systems electric all the time?

I would go with gas if you use the pool from time to time and power if you use it every day.

natural gas is half the price of gasoline
